Today, the 13th of October, is John Peel Day. Honouring the world-famous DJ John Peel, who died on 25 October 2004, John Peel Day will hopefully be a yearly event, showcasing new and eclectic music as John Peel did for so long on his BBC radio show.
This is why today, if you look at what I’m listening to, you see a bunch of Autechre, The Black Dog, Boards of Canada, Orbital, and Plaid. They’re all artists that have Peel Session CDs available, and these CDs are what I’ll be listening to all day long.
