Note to Sam Rosen and John Davidson: LEARN TO SPEAK

Public Service Announcement: If you have the opportunity to watch a Montreal Canadiens hockey game on OLN, don’t take it. If you’re like me, you’ll end up getting incredibly annoyed by the inept announcing from John Davidson and Sam Rosen.

Sure, they know their hockey, they’ve been announcing it for years. They dumb it down for the American audience, and I don’t really have issues with that.

What pisses me off is how they pronounce Alexei Kovalev’s last name. See how it ends? With an “ev”? How do you think they pronounce that? “Ev”?

No, for some reason they seem to think his name is Kovalov, because every single time they say his name that’s how they pronounce it.

Come on, it’s not a hard name, it’s no Khabibulin or Balmochnykh or Kwiatkowski. Go read your NHL Pronunciation Guide and get his name right. And while you’re there, learn how to pronounce “Théodore”. It’s French-Canadian. They don’t pronounce “th” like in English, it’s a hard “T” sound. It’s not “THEE-oh-dore”, it’s “TAY-oh-dore”.

Christ.

WHAT R U? F**ING RUSSIAN, WHO CARES HOW U PRONOUNCE KOVOLEV. AS FOR DUMBING IT UP FOR THE AMERICANS, U GOT A POINT THERE. FOR THOSE OF US DOWN HERE WHO ACTUALLY FOLLOW HOCKEY, THAT GOES IN THE SAME CATAGORY AS THESE NEW “IMPROVMENTS” THAT ARE KILLING THE HOCKEY WE ALL KNEW, PLAYED, & LOVED.

Sean are you 12? Learn how to use capitals correctly please. Capital letters are used for; the first word of a sentence, the pronoun “I”, the first word in a sentence that is a direct quote, the major words in the titles of books, articles, and songs, and proper nouns.
Correct pronounciation of a name is a mark of respect for a person. I’m sure if I pronouced your name as “Seen” you’d be slightly upset.
Last but not least if you are going to swear in a comment on someone’s post please just spell the whole fucking word.
It is apparent from your response why there is a need to dumb down hockey.
