Bad Baby Names: The 2006 Inaugural Edition

The first Bad Baby Name post of 2006 brings some doozies. Let’s get to them!

The first Bad Baby Name combines the Overused Irish/Scottish Name with Horrible Spelling: Mckenzy. Oh well done. Nobody’s every named their kid Mackenzie before. And to misspell it, that’s original! Good one!

The second Bad Baby Name was actually the first one spotted by both me and Mrs. CanSpice: Axel. First thought that popped into our heads: Axel Rose. Someone’s dad’s a Guns ‘N’ Roses fan! Here’s hoping your future isn’t filled with cocaine, fights, and lawsuits, young Axel!

The third Bad Baby Name combines Old Testament Skool with Horrible Spelling: Aachariah. We can only hope that this one’s a typo and is actually meant to be Zachariah.

You witnessed it: I actually hope that some baby in Hilo is named Zachariah.

The fourth Bad Baby Name is this week’s winner: Qwuincey. Now Quincy/Quincey isn’t a bad name, but when you try to tart it up by throwing an extra letter in there, that’s just wrong. Especially when you put it in the one place where an extra letter shouldn’t go, cleaving the sacred bond between Q and U. Now the kid’s going to be going through life thinking there’s nothing wrong with the sentence “Qwuincy qwuickly qwuaffs kumqwuat liqwuor”.

I believe in creativity, but not at the expense of a child. These poor children will be humiliated for life.

Axel means father of peace. Are we to shy away from a name cause some famous dude ruined it? Personally I don’t have a problem with Napoleon or Adolf, not even Lucifer.

Gotta say, I’m with Axel (above) on this one. It’s a perfectly cromulent name, Axel Rose notwithstanding.

i really dont see what is so wrong with axel, i fell in love with the name after reading into kingdom hearts. i dont think its fair that just because some celebrity has the same name, that i cant use it for my own kids. am i not allowed to use the name raven? or demi? whats wrong with that?

I love the name Axel and just gave that name to my baby. Axl Rose spelled his name without the “e”. Dude, where is your 80′s metal band literacy?

    Mckenzy? Seriously?
