July 2005: I left Hawaii for England. While I was gone the London bombings happened, a 5.2 earthquake hit Hawaii, and a second 5.0 earthquake hit Hawaii. After England I went to Portland, and while I was there Aki got into some chocolate and got incredibly sick.
October 2006: I left Hawaii for Tucson. While I was gone the 6.7 earthquake hit Hawaii, a 9-hour thunderstorm hit the east side of the Big Island (where I live), lightning struck our house, knocking out our phone line (it hasn’t been fixed yet, damn Hawaiian Telcom to the Hell of Boiling Corporations), Alice got bit in the head by a centipede, and my supervisor had a short in some A/V equipment that started a small fire.

It’s America’s ruthless plan for keeping you here FOREVER.
How are we doing so far? :D

Bit in the head by a centipede? Ouuuuch. How did that happen? That’s the kind of thing that scares the bejeebers out of me. Those things are huge.

She was sleeping, felt a huge pain in her head, jumped up and saw a centipede on her pillow. That was…tuesday night, I think, and the pain’s just finally going away now. And yeah, those things are scary as hell.
