It was so cheap to go that you could spend all your money on booze and track food instead! As for Laguna Seca or Elkhart Lake or the Glen, it ain't gonna happen. I don't believe any other US tracks are up to FIA spec, and the sanctioning fees are enough to make track owners think twice about getting into bed with Bernie. Oh, well.
