California: what the fuck?

November 5th, 2008

Seriously California, what the fuck is wrong with you? I thought you were all granola-eating tree-hugging leftie communist pinkos. I thought you were all for the gay lifestyle. I thought you were all for equality. You guys used to piss off the social conservatives all the time, what with your San Franciscos and your Berkeleys.

But no, apparently you’re all a bunch of bigots. At least, 52% of you are.

Come on, what the fuck? Since when has California been a beacon for bigotry? Since when has California been a beacon for intolerance? Since when has California been a beacon for fear and hatred? That sort of thing we expect out of backwards states like Arkansas, but California?

Jesus Christ you Californians are fucking idiots.

This Proposition 8 has had its share of mouth-breathers come out of the woodwork. People like Howard Ahmanson Jr. who donated $1,395,000 to help pass Proposition 8. He’s said that his “goal is the total integration of biblical law into our lives.” Fuck you, Howard Ahmanson Jr. Leave your “biblical law” out of my life. I suppose now you’re going to be campaigning for banning figs or some other bit of idiocy that’s in the bible.

People like Terry Caster and his family, along with his A-1 Self Storage business. The Casters donated $693,000 to help pass Proposition 8. He says that “without solid marriage you are going to have a sick society.” Go fuck yourself, Terry Caster. And fuck your son Craig too, who’s the founder and pastor of Family Discipleship Ministries in San Diego. Fuck you, Craig Caster.

This whole “gay marriage is dangerous to society and marriage” thing is horseshit. Seriously. How does two men getting married affect you in any way? Gay people are going to live together regardless, so does giving them a marriage certificate make your marriage unstable? “Hey shit John and Steve are married, let’s get a divorce.” What the fuck? When gay marriage was legal in California did heterosexual divorce rates go up? Face it, this whole Proposition 8 was just a way to get legalized bigotry. Now it’s perfectly okay to discriminate against gay people in California. Fuck you California.

Here’s a bit from Charlie Stross:

Here’s a good diagnostic test for whether a proposed law is bigoted: if it applies to a group of people, replace the subject group in question with “Jews” or “Blacks”, and see how it reads. If Adolf Hitler or the Grand Cyclops would approve, then it’s a fair bet that there’s something fishy about it. In the case of Proposition 8, how would you vote if it read, “Only marriage between Christians is recognized in California”? Or “Only marriage between white-skinned people is recognized in California”?

If you are a Californian voter and you vote for Proposition 8, then I’m afraid it means you’re a bigot. You favour depriving a subset of the population of their civil rights, you are willing to vote for a measure that will destroy existing marriages, and you will refuse to honour marriage contracts acknowledged elsewhere in the world. And you’ve tacitly admitted that your own marriage does need protecting (which is kind of pathetic).

You’re also providing aid and comfort to bigots and intolerant, murderous fundamentalists elsewhere on the planet, for which the rest of us (who have to deal with our own local nutjobs) will not thank you. When one state or nation passes a law like this one, it encourages activists elsewhere to campaign for their own equivalent. The organizations backing of Proposition 8 aren’t Californian — they’re mostly national or international, and they will take a victory in the polls in California and push it for all it’s worth elsewhere. So if you vote for Proposition 8 and it passes, you can rest assured that you’ve done your bit for bigotry not only at home, but in the rest of the world.

In case you’re wondering, here’s a list of troglodytes who donated money to help pass Proposition 8. Morons, each and every one of them.

You’re forgetting about the huge black and latino turnout, most of whom voted for Obama and for prop 8. There’s not enough evangelicals to get shit passed in California.

  2. November 5th, 2008 at 10:59 | #2

I didn’t mean to imply that only white evangelicals are idiots. Blacks and latinos are just as capable at being bigots as well as white people.

But if you look at the list of people who donated money to help pass Proposition 8, you’ll see that the vast majority of the money came from evangelicals, so they should bear most of the blame. The voters take some of the blame too, but the people donating thousands of dollars in the name of bigotry deserve most of it.

At the end of the day, it’s important to remember that all these red states and blue states are all pretty damn purple. There’s a lot of fear in a lot of places about legalization of gay marriage suddenly pushing that into churches, which … I sure as hell don’t understand. If the Catholic church is allowed to discriminate against non-Catholics being married in its walls and largely against marrying divorceés [unless the previous marriage is annulled by the Bishop], then why the hell do we evangelicals suddenly think that state-sanctioned gay marriage will drive what our churches do? I just don’t get it AT ALL.

    Drives me bonkers.

Most people are heterosexual. Most of these will marry and have families. Gay marriage would not change this. At one time there were restrictions against marrying someone of a different race, religion or social status. Married couples who chose not to have children were looked at with suspicion, as were divorced people. How many would like to see the definition of marriage be all of the above? Most Christians are fine with me, but I am sick and tired of right wing religious/political nut cases trying to make America into an appendage of their church and have our laws connected to their interpretation of the Bible. Let people live their lives. Stay out of their bedrooms. Imagine how America would be if all gays and lesbians refused to pay taxes? African Americans didn’t get their rights honored because they worked with the system. The marched in the streets and non-blacks marched with them. Maybe it’s time for gays, lesbians and supporters to do the same. We have a right to life and happiness. We contribute to society, and damn it, certain elements of our society which want to limit and deny us had better well back off.

Fuck you fagotts. Marriage is a Holy union. Where the fuck does the Bible say that being a fag is cool? In fact the Bible denounces sodomy(thats ass fucking for you illiterate fags) as a sin. So Fuck you and your rights. You disgust me. When exactly did you start talking with lisps and shit anyway? There have been fags since the days of the Roman empire and only recently have you developed this lisp. Like you were born with it or something. Fuck that shit. Should I speak with an exagerated deep voice because I like pussy? Fuck you. You are not special. You are sick and twisted confused pariah. Again, a Holy union. I’m obviously no religious nut but thats what it is and should stay. FUCK ALL FAGS. And if u don’t like me come see me bitch. MSUTTLE1222@yahoo.com BITCHES.

And by the way, how the hell do you raise kids in a fag house? Thats some dysfunctional shit if I ever heard it. If you fucks want kids so bad then be straight like you were born not fag cause it’s trendy and makes you special. How does a kid explain that in school? My dads said I can’t play today. I mean come on. Who’s gonna fight all those fights throughout school? You? Fuck no it’s your poor kids. Fuck Rosie and Fuck Ellen and any other fags that got their dirty hands on kids.

    Jesus was totally gay.

Michael: While your elegant prose certainly argues a point…its a rather invalid one. To start, the bible was written by man – not god. It was put together during Roman times for various reasons there were both political and religious in nature. It’s also been revised, edited and changed countless times. Ignoring the fact that it also declares that those who work on sundays should be killed, that you should not have long hair (even though jesus is always depicted as having long hair), that women should be totally subservient to men (oh yea that’ll go far…oh wait) and various other things that if taken literally would see the complete downfall of modern society. Do you really want to live in the days when stoning was a permitable punishment?

Finally, men and women who marry have done a far better job of destroying the sanctity of marriage than homosexuals ever could. With divorce rates at all time highs, pathetically low adoption rates from people who want kids and the pathetic state that most of the younger generation is in leads me to believe that homosexuals being able to marry and adopt would only be an improvement. Atleast they’re willing to FIGHT for marriage – unlike so many of the straights who want to fight only after the marriage has fallen apart.

I don’t think my marriage, although it is between a man and a woman could really be described as holy. And I certainly would never have gotten married in a church.

But just for you Michael I’ll do a quick check around the house for angels hiding in closets and glowing symbols of Christ on the walls. Maybe it is holy….

i can’t imagine anything better than gay marriage to help uphold the time-honoured battle cry:

    “ALL HOLES FILLED!!”

thank you, thank you very much, don’t forget to tip the coat check girl on your way out.

also, micheal: please invest in a clue.

1.) a holy union? i think alice addressed that nicely… (clap.. clap..)

2.) the bible as a source of any form of authority? Chris has that one covered, and geoff can comment on it nicely if he chose too. for my part, i will admit it as a source of belief guidance at best; but as a student of philosophy i will continue to argue against it as a source of anything approaching truth.

3.) the rest of your ignorant comments are so ill formed and incoherent that they don’t even bear direct reply. i pity you.

    Tonight’s homework assignment:
Yahoo “Dangerous Radicals of the Religious Right.”
Google “Zombietime” and land on “Up Your Alley Fair.”
Tell God you’re happier with the Google item and don’t care if He sends quakes, violent storms, and other bad things to America to wake her up out of her insane head-long rush to Hell! And tell patriots Howard and Roberta Ahmanson you’re sorry your vocabulary is helping to fulfill Revelation 22:11 (”and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still”) because by doing so you’re helping to make the Bible even more believable! Sweet dreams! Judy

Hey, this is great. I’ve never such desire to fulfill Bible predictions by so many – undoubtedly because they want to make it even more believable! The past world leader whose name has five letters and begins with “J” – no, not Jones – predicted (in Luke 17) that just before his return to earth there will be a mysterious worldwide (and violent) resurgence of the “days of Lot” (see Gen. 19) on an unparalleled scale caused by unseen powers who will be allowed to brainwash millions. The millions shouldn’t be asking whether Howard Ahmanson believes that gays should be stoned; they should wonder why God commanded it in the Old Testament. And if the thought of death is so repulsive to gays, why are they so supportive of those who want to murder unborn children? For a preview of Gaydom’s untimate goal, Google “Zombietime” and click on “Up Your Alley Fair” which flaunts the “rights” Obama approves of which take place in Pelosi’s pigpen while cops are ordered to stand by and smirk while children present are denied childhood innocence! So gays love the Bible so much they want to fulfill those “days” in Luke 17 in order to speed up Jesus’ return! And they can hurry it up by invading even more church services, stripping naked, and getting even more violent. If heteros did half of what homos do in public, they’d be arrested in a flash. But not to worry because gays are merely fulfilling what has been predicted – and I advise them not to scan the Bible too much to find out what their ultimate end will be because they might lose a lot of sleep! If gays wonder if they are “Americans” or not, they should Yahoo “Dangerous Radicals of the Religious Right.” In early America doing gay stuff was an Old Testament-type capital crime and many were executed. I know – someone will reply and claim that Jesus never talked about homosexuality. And he never talked about kidnapping – but does anyone think he approved of it? His positive statement that marriage is only between a man and a woman logically cancels out same-sex marriage, or marriage with an animal or inanimate object or anything else that twisteroos can think up. As the Bible also predicts, many folks will have to learn things the hard, screaming way. Speaking of SF, one of these days their underground saint – San Andreas – is bound to get a big jolt out of all the faults of SF’s God-hating leaders!

Where are you crazy people coming from? You last two people are fucking insane, plain and simple.

Seriously, the next person to come along and tell us to search Google for Zombietime needs to answer this simple question: how does gay people getting married affect heterosexual people getting married?

Civil Unions are legal in Cali…..Some of us agnostists do not believe in allowing a small percentage of the population being able to persecute the religious communities and open them up for law suits for not performing gay weddings!! You guys need to have tolenence towards religion and a open mind regarding freedom! It is always funny to see when the intolerant left goes on a rampage…I am for civil unions and the freedom of religious beliefs.

  16. May 28th, 2009 at 06:50 | #16

Gay marriage in California would not cause churches to be forced to marry gay people against their will. Anybody who says that’s the case is delusional and spreading lies.
